Update on Puppies

The puppies are now almost 3 weeks old and finally have their eyes open. Up til now, their eyes have been closed and their noses have looked like they ran into the refrigerator door, not once but repeatedly!
Next week we are invited to go to the kennel and cuddle with all of the puppies. At that time, we will be filling out a questionnaire re our lifestyle, environment, type of pup desired, along with preference re sex, color and size. This breeder puts all of her puppies through the National Service Dog testing program to assess their personalities, aggressiveness, obedience etc. In this way, she feels that she can better match up puppies with perspective owners.
Anyhow, here are some pictures of the puppies at almost 3 weeks old.

We are thinking of "Cooperslane Canoe ______" as the required registered name. The blank will be either Calee, Kate or Chloe. Don't laugh...this is important and just as difficult as picking the name of a baby!!!! (not)

Boating Anyone?

Bob's newly completed woodworking project was to make a boat bookcase. We have seen these at the Langford Canoe gift shop and at other crafty type stores. This one is made from oak with black walnut trim. It is a wedding gift for Sharon and Terry's son Michael and his fiance Niki. Isn't it just gorgeous?

I should also say that Bob made this bookcase using no plans, other than his own sketches.
What a beauty!

Bob's Newest Project

Last year we installed two gates at the end of our laneway so that we could lock up entry when we went away on holidays. However the gates only prevented entry onto the laneway and not to the yard. Anyone could drive around the gates onto the field if they so desired.
Therefore, Bob decided it was time to fence the front boundary of the property (the other three are already fenced). We opted for the rustic look and decided on a split rail design.
Here is Bob putting in posts after digging the holes by hand.

And here are pictures of the completed fence. Good job, eh?

More Flowers From Our Garden

The perennial garden is really blooming well this year and I can't help but show you some more flowers. I even have two mystery flowers that I would like you to help me identify, along with a pretty butterfly that landed on the chives the other day.
